STEPHANOS AMPATZIS

Stephanos Ampatzis has studied Law in Greece and France. He holds a master in EU law from University R. Schuman, Strasbourg.

He joined the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission in 2001. He has served in the Unit responsible for the legal implementation of EU environmental law, where he was in charge inter alia of the implementation of the Directives on nature protection (92/43/EEC and 2009/147/EC).

He is currently working in the "Cohesion Policy and Environmental Impact Assessments" Unit as a co-ordinator of the implementation of the EIA and SEA Directives and the Espoo Convention, including the revision of the EIA Directive.
